A Daughter's Conviction

When beloved Seattle Tribune columnist and local 'hero of the people' Jack McBride is bludgeoned to death in his home, the only suspect is his wealthy wife of six months, Maureen Avery. Found passed out on a combination of anti-depressants and alcohol, Maureen has no recollection of the night in question. Maureen’s daughter, Cheryl Avery, comes home when she receives the news of her mother’s arrest. Certain of Maureen’s innocence, Cheryl speaks to the police, who are just as sure she’s guilty: all the evidence points to Maureen.

As the investigation deepens, it seems there’s no one in town that wasn’t somehow caught up in Jack’s scandalous secret life of gambling and womanizing. Now it’s up to Cheryl alone to figure out who’s guilty of Jack’s murder and clear her mother’s name.
